Sandhurst Nursery School

Sandhurst Nursery School is a friendly well-established independent nursery school that was set up in 1994 to provide nursery education and childcare for children aged 2 years old and over within Sandhurst and the surrounding areas. The nursery relocated to its present site at The Spot, Owlsmoor Road in Sandhurst Berkshire in 2014. The Nursery is registered with Bracknell Forest Borough Council and inspected by Ofsted and in our latest Ofsted report of October 2016 we were rated GOOD across all areas.

Meet the Team

Our staff are extremely important to your child and to us and we ensure that they are caring, fun and are highly experienced and qualified in early year’s childcare and education and that they LOVE little people. At Sandhurst Nursery we believe that each child is treated and valued as individuals and that we provide a caring, safe and secure environment where learning is fun. We believe that each and every child is gifted in different ways and that given the right support and encouragement that they will reach their full potential and shine at different times throughout their life. We believe that it shouldn’t matter how slowly a child learns as long as we are encouraging them never to stop.

I am the dinosaur of the nursery, a mum to three grown up boys and a granny.

I have been with the nursery from the start, in 1994! I have an Early Years Foundation Degree in Childcare and Education, a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, a Level 2 Child Protection Certificate, a Level 2 Makaton Certificate, the list goes on………!

I am the Nursery Manager and owner of the nursery, a role that I really enjoy even though, at times, I feel my age! but there is a positive side too, the children defiantly keep me young!!! I am very passionate about providing good quality childcare that is affordable to all. I enjoy nothing better that when a shy child joins the nursery, and over time develops into a confident little person ready for their next step on the education path.

I am also the nursery’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I enjoy working with families whose children have additional needs and helping them with the challenges they face as their child enters into the world of education.

My favourite colour is purple and I like the arty crafty activities. When I’m not working ha ha! I enjoy catching up with family and friends.

I am the Deputy Head of the nursery, or as the children call me, Mrs Balance! I am married and have two children.

I qualified in 2015 after completing my Level 3 City and Guilds Diploma at Farnborough Technology College. I also have Level 1 in Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates.

Previously to completing the course, I helped at my children’s school for three years. It was then I realised that my passion was to work with children. I joined the nursery after both my children went there. They were always coming home with all sorts amazing and fun stories of what they had been up to, which made my decision to apply much easier!

I feel very lucky to work in a nursery environment where you can care for, encourage and teach a most wonderful age group. The most rewarding part of being in a nursery environment is watching the children grow from their very first day to the day they leave us for their ‘big school’.

I very much look forward to going to nursery every day, as every day is different. I especially enjoy playing with the children, whether it’s sitting quietly playing a game or reading a story to getting messy and creative!

My favourite book is The Gruffalo, my favourite colour is Aqua and I love to dance to music with the children!

I have worked at the nursery since 2015 after completing a CACHE level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education at Farnborough College. Since starting this amazing job as a nursery assistant, I have also gained certificates in First Aid, Level 1 Child Protection and Food Hygiene.

Working at the nursery has also helped me to gain much experience in the way children develop. It has also allowed me to build beautiful relationships with every child and to value their differences, a memory that I will always treasure.
This is one of my favourite aspects in my role as an early year’s educator.

One thing that I have in common with a lot of the children is the love for all things Disney. My favourite colour is green which is lucky as that is the colour of our uniform!

I am a mum of 2 young boys, one of which was given a diagnosis of Autism whist at the nursery.

I have a Diploma in Nursery Nursing which I gained some 25 years ago in 1993. Prior to having my first child, I worked in various full day care nurseries and gained invaluable experience in how each child develops differently and no two children are the same before eventually becoming a nursery manager.

After the birth of my second child, I became a stay at home mum and enjoyed spending quality time with the boys, watching them as they developed their own individual personalities. When my youngest started at school I felt that the time was right to go back to work.

I was delighted when I was able to join the team at the nursery as a nursery assistant. This role still allows me to spend quality time with my family, as family is really important to me. I love my role at nursery and can often be found in the home corner hosting tea parties or making train or road ways with the children.

Following my son’s diagnosis, I would like to undertake more training around children with additional needs as I feel that as a parent of a child with additional needs I can identify with them and offer them support not only within my role at nursery, but as a parent.

When not at work I like to chill out and read, my favourite colour is Pink.

I am a mum to one little boy who is the centre of my world.

I started at the nursery in October 2018 as a nursery assistant and what I lack in qualifications I more than make up for with my enthusiasm. I am very child orientated and enjoy being around the children, watching them as they develop into little people. Working in the nursery has reinforced my views that working with children is where I want to be and, in the not too distant future I will be studying for a recognised childcare qualification.

Nursery is a fun place to be and there are many activities that I really enjoy, especially activities based around music and movement.

When I’m not working, I like to spend quality time with family and friends and my favourite colour is orange.

I am a mummy of two young children and joined the nursery in September 2018.

I gained my NVQ Level 2 in 2004 and Level 3 in 2006 whilst working in full day care settings. Since gaining my Level 3, I have worked in a variety of childcare settings including being a hospital play assistant, a nanny, a childminder and a maternity nursery nurse, all of which have given me lots of unique experiences to value.

I love every day that I am in nursery, watching the children develop and their individual personalities grow. One of my favourite activities is encouraging the children to get messy and explore their creative side. I also enjoy being a bit silly and imaginative with the children during our P.E sessions.

My favourite colour is pink and when not working I love being out and about with my two little monkeys.

What Parents Say

Don’t just take our word for it though. Please read what others are saying about us. If you would like any further information or to arrange a visit then please give us a call on 01344 761414 or send us a message below.

I cannot recommend Sandhurst Nursery School enough. Both my eldest and now my youngest daughter have attended the school. The staff are amazing, very approachable and friendly, they work wonderfully with the children and take into account every child’s individual needs. The relationship between parent and teaching staff is second to none.

The nursery has been invaluable in improving my daughter’s speech and development since she started at the nursery in September. She has enjoyed the many experiences on offer which in turn has enhanced her social skills immensely.

Overall a very fun and caring learning place for my daughter. I would not hesitate in recommending this nursery as a place to feel your child is well cared for and most importantly having fun.

Lily-Mae and Poppy's Mummy

Sandhurst Nursery was the first nursery I visited with my son, when the time came to decide where he would go. I intended to look at two or three, to compare. However on our first visit, my (usually clingy) son allowed someone else to take off his coat, and within minutes he was playing with other children and making himself at home. I have always felt that he decided there and then that Sandhurst Nursery was for him, and we didn’t look anywhere else.

Nearly two years on, I have always felt welcomed by the team there, and confident that my son is looked after well. They have supported him (and me) through milestones such as potty training and are currently preparing him well for his onward journey into “big school”.

Samuel’s Mummy

Sandhurst Nursery has been the best start for my children. They have loved going to nursery and this is due to the caring and nurturing (and heaps of fun!) provided by all the teachers. My children love the teachers and also look forward to nursery. What more could a parent ask for!

Jamie and Emilia’s Mummy

Both of my boys have been through Sandhurst Nursery, and I can honestly say they’ve never been happier. My youngest is there currently, and always skips in without even saying goodbye!

The strongest aspect of the nursery is, without doubt, the staff. They are welcoming to both children and parents and they genuinely care about each and every child. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I will be sad when my youngest has to leave to go to school next year!
